I have seen this problem of not having enough real men to take the job on. It was back in the 1880s and Wil Anderson was his name and he needed real men, "Cowboys", for a 400-mile cattle drive to market. After trying to find real men for the cattle drive, Mr. Anderson ended up going to the schoolhouse and recruiting 11 young men. In fact, the one really young boy asked if he could come and Mr. Anderson had him come to stand in front of the chalkboard and drew a mark on the chalkboard a few inches above his head and said, "Anyone as tall as this mark is welcome to come". Mr. Anderson left and the other boys came up to the front and took the chalkboard off of a few books to lower the standard so their friend could come. The story ends with Mr. Anderson being shot and killed, and the eldest of the boys takes the lead and tells all the others, "Well, come on, we're burning daylight" a favored expression of Mr. Anderson. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068421/

More cracks in the dam - WTS pleading for elders "in their early 20s"
by FFGhost ini have another post here about how the wts is reeling from covid, as reflected in their abysmally catastrophic service report:.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/6315842470936576/annual-service-report-yet-another-analysis-big-trouble-wts.
here's another rupture showing.. in the latest "announcements and reminders" to elders, there is a paragraph with these sentences:.

puctuality..
by zachias ina small incident happened to me today that has triggered me to say this.. how many of you have seen that jw are fairly hopeless and being anywhere on time.. an obvious one is the families that never miss a meeting and never miss arriving late with resultant fuss.
.
but in day to day things as well.arriving late for a paid job.. leaving early, ditto.. not turning up for a bbq without even a phone call.. being in all things disorganized.. and, how many of you have seen the above become the norm in people once they become jw that were not that way before....

I wasn't so concerned about the family with 5 children coming in late. That is hard work to get that many young children going on the weekend. I was irritated with the PO who was late for everything, but he had everyone waiting on him so his time wasn't wasted. I.e., He would have a part on a circuit assembly and want to practice, so everyone shows up but him. We had dinner, then practiced the part without him and are leaving and he finally shows up literally 3 + hours late. The reason he and his family were late was that He had gone to a local college football game and it went into overtime. He had a cell phone and could have called. The problem was he would have been late if the game had not gone into overtime. He made the appointment when the kickoff was scheduled. That's what pissed me off. He did that kind of crap all the time. I have to thank him though, his selfishness helped me wake up.

The Watchtower—Study Edition | February 2022 Trust in Jehovah ...We really meant ''the Governing Body''
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower—study edition | february 2022. study article 6. do you trust in jehovah’s way of doing things?.
15 as the end of this system of things draws near, we need to trust in jehovah’s way of doing things as never before.
during the great tribulation, we may receive instructions that seem strange, impractical, or illogical.

FFGhost, you remember correctly, when I read "Jehovah" in a WT article I substitute either the WTBTS or the "Governing Body". Several years ago there was a study WT article that was beating up on individuals that were getting tired of the end being around the corner and the article had questions like, "Are you upset with Jehovah for warning his people early but nothing happened?". Just substitute Jehovah with the "governing body or WTBTS". When I read the article again with the substitutions the article seemed to be defending their early warning system of forever calamity howling.

Freedom is a wonderful thing that born in JW's have never experienced. I would think that anything as simple as having the time to read a good book, enjoy a musical instrument, cooking, baking, etc free from the watchful eye and criticism of "Big Brother" from the Congregation would be invigorating. The elephant with the chain around his leg perhaps has figured out the chain is not tied to anything and that he has the power to overcome the chain. It will be interesting to see. Years ago, the CO's went on the warpath to get rid of people on the phone lines listening in on the meetings as they were second-class citizens.

What changes are on the way?
by insearchoftruth ini was listening to the co talk to my wife’s congregation on sunday and pretty much the complete talk was justifying doctrinal and organizational changes and pretty much preparing the ‘rank and file’ for upcoming changes.
anyone on hear have any insight of what ‘new light’ is coming in the future?.

The Poor the Wealthy and the Middle Class
by Simon inthe poor spendthe middle-class savethe wealthy invest.
the unique circumstances of the lockdown and stimulus checks has highlighted these differences in stark ways.. on one hand, you have jumps in sales and valuation of companies like foot locker and nike, as people spend their "free" government money on sneakers.
they blow it on useless tat.

Simon, this last year I didn't see poor people purchasing Nike shoes, I saw them carrying several boxes at a time out of shoes while looting.

Warren Buffet said about investing, "It's time IN the market not "timing the market". I've read many books on the stock market, i.e. the pump and dump games the big boys play, stock market history, and books on stock market crashes. YouTube is a good source to hear Warren Buffet address university students with excellent advice.
J. L. Collins has an excellent book for the masses not knowing the first thing about investing. "The Simple Path to Wealth: Your road map to financial independence and a rich, free life". You don't need to buy it, the point of the book is to: buy the Total Stock Market Index Fund from Vanguard and contribute to it regularly and forget about it. Vanguard has an ETF available for small investors. The reason behind buying Vanguard funds is that the management "load" is the lowest in the industry. Technology funds and the S & P 500 are great funds to buy.

I subscribe to Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, and "The Business Insider" business magazines online, and occasionally the Motley Fool. I have a friend and we will share information. He told me that there were four mature women that would each read business articles and they would meet and discuss what they learned and they are now wealthy off of their investments. Instead of keeping up with social media, I read business articles. I also listen to Fox Business News in the morning with Marie Bartiromo and then Stuart Varney and they have occasionally had some great tips. Wouldn't it be cool if we could get some individual investment going here like the Wall Street Bets gang!
